William John - Rookie investor
My name is William John, I'm an internet entrepreneur and amateur stock and property investor.
Six years ago I met my buddy - Mike Roberts - on the golf course. He was developing a significant income from a stock portfolio alongside his day job.
We shared the goals of building a passive income and working for pleasure (rather than a paycheck) and earning the right to retire at an age when we still have enough energy left to enjoy life.
Last year, when at age 33, Mike's portfolio income burst through the $100,000 mark I said: "You just gotta teach me how to do what you do!"
Up to that point I had invested in rental property, but was sick of unblocking toilets, fixing faulty boilers and paying most of my profit to agents.
I had never bought a stock and didn't have a brokerage account. I was a genuine novice investor.
But I did at least have a savings plan, and Mike has shown me how to invest sensibly and profitably in stocks.
I've persuaded Mike to spill the beans about how he grew his portfolio and income on this site, so you can benefit from his ideas and strategies, too!
Hi, I'm Mike Roberts. I made my first stock investment at age 22 just after finishing college. 11 years later, I'm set up for life.
Last year my stock investments paid dividends of over $100,000 and work is now entirely voluntary for me - I don't have to sell my time for a pay check.
My philosophy is that speculating on the stock market is senseless, because the market is volatile and I haven't yet found a tool that can predict the future.
My interest is in selecting stocks for their dividend payouts and holding them over long periods so that they pay out larger and larger sums compared with the initial investment.
By buying stocks at the right price, buying consistently and reinvesting your profits, you can harness the power of compounding to grow your wealth and income.
Early retirement can be a reality with a significant monthly or quarterly income from stocks. You decide whether to work or not.
You don't work for money, money works for you!
All you need is time, patience and a bit of self-discipline and what starts as supplemental income can grow to overtake your paycheck.
